What’s Going On * 03.05.09

We heard from the Campus Life Director at the Texas Baptist Children’s Home in Round Rock today, and we are the ones they have chosen for the position.  They are still waiting for the background checks to be complete, and we have to take (and pass) a drug and TB test.  Once that is done, they will issue an offer letter.  We don’t know when all the details will be wrapped up or when we will start; our best guess is on, or by, April 1st.

We will be serving as relief houseparents, coming in to 2 separate cottages for 10 days per month while the regular houseparents are on their monthly respite.  The other 10 days per month or so, we will be off-duty.

So it looks like this is the direction our lives and ministry will be going.  This will be quite an adjustment in many, many ways; but it also holds the potential for great ministry and impact in the lives of the teens we will be serving.  There are new challenges we will face that we’re aware of, and we realize that there are some we have no idea about.  The TBCH has been in operation for nearly 60 years, and we’re confident that their experience and training will prepare us well.

Please pray for us, as we begin both a new phase of life and a new ministry, and also that our house will sell.

  1. Woohoo! So glad y’all get to stay here. Any idea where you’ll be living when your house sells?

I am excited for this new adventure in your lives!! When I think of this current chapter of life I think of this verse. I love you guys!!!

    Jeremiah 29:11-14
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the LORD, and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, declares the LORD, and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile.

    Peace and MUCHO Power,
    DA Queen

  3. Hey Matt! I think that is awesome that you guys are going to be house parents. The one thing I told the lady from Arkansas was that you and Nola were so good together and really showed what a Christian marriage should be like. I know that always impressed me. I am sure that some pf the kids you are going to work with will have never known what two parents living together would look like. Blessings to you and Nola both.
