Don’t Waste Your Vote

How do you waste your vote?Β  Not voting is not the only way to waste your vote.Β  A wasted vote is also a vote for someone you know does not represent your own beliefs and principles. A wasted vote is a vote for someone you know will not lead the country in the way you believe it should go.

Some people say that they’re voting the way they are “because the other guy can’t win” – as if there are only 2 choices.Β  In fact, there are 6 major candidates running for President.Β  The general outcome is predictable: two candidates will get the majority of the vote, and the other four together will share a very small percentage.Β  But do you know where those other four candidates stand on the issues?

Could it be that one of them, though you know there is no way they will be elected, is more in line with your desires and values than the others?Β  And if so, why not vote for them?Β  Why vote for “the lesser of two evils”?Β  When you do, you are still voting for someone that does not truly represent you.Β  Does that really make you feel better?

There are many non-partisan web sites that make it very easy to find out where all of the candidates stand on the issues, not to mention the candidates own web sites.Β  It takes some time and effort, but the information is there for anyone who takes their right and privilege to vote seriously.Β  Going to the polling place and casting a vote for any candidate, if you have not examined all the candidates, is to seriously run the risk of wasting your vote.

“Always vote for principle, though you may vote alone,
and you may cherish the sweetest reflection
that your vote is never lost.”

John Quincy Adams

Update on Carson

Carson is home, and doing well.Β  His stitches were taken out today, and he’ll be having a CT scan to make sure everything is healing up on the inside.Β  Lord willing, Nola will be coming home this Thursday, Oct. 16th.Β  It’s never fun for her to be gone this long, but we are thankful that we live close enough and she has the freedom to be able to go when needed.

This is Carson, while still in the hospital; he just discovered the control that called the nurse, and much to his surprise, turned the room lights on and off.

Thanks so much for your prayers, and please continue as we see if this will solve the problem he was having with swallowing and choking.
